Hospitalist (Family Physician) – Day & Night Shifts

About the role

Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus, Ontario is seeking Hospitalists (Family Physicians) to provide comprehensive day and night inpatient care. The position offers flexible scheduling options—including full‑time, part‑time and casual arrangements—with 7‑day rotations for both day‑time hospitalist and nocturnist shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Admit, round on, and discharge all medical inpatients.
• Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds and develop safe discharge plans.
• Respond to emergency codes (ACLS certification required).
• Accompany patients transferred to higher‑level facilities when needed.
• Collaborate with inpatient specialists and support learners on the team.
• Arrange personal coverage if unavailable during an assigned week.

Required profile

• Medical licensure to practice in Ontario.
• ACLS certification.
• Willingness to work 7‑day rotation schedules.
• Ability to mentor learners (optional adjunct professorship available).
• Comfortable in a collegial, team‑oriented environment.
