High School English Tutor – In‑Person & In‑Home (Toronto)

About the role

Join Prep Academy Tutors as an in‑person, in‑home High School English Tutor serving students in North and Downtown Toronto. You will deliver personalized instruction aligned with the Ontario secondary English curriculum, helping learners improve reading, writing, and critical‑thinking skills.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑on‑one tutoring sessions at students’ homes, covering reading comprehension, literary analysis, essay writing, grammar, and vocabulary.
• Prepare students for classroom assessments, major assignments, exams and, where appropriate, the OSSLT.
• Develop customized lesson plans that address individual strengths and areas for growth.
• Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about progress and goals.

Required profile

• Current, valid registration with the Ontario College of Teachers or a certified teacher in Canada/US (or in the process of certification).
• Experience tutoring or teaching high‑school English (Grades 9‑12) and familiarity with the Ontario curriculum.
• Reliable transportation to travel to homes in North and Downtown Toronto.
• Enrollment in a Bachelor of Education program or prior lecturing experience at a recognized college/university is a plus.
