High School English Tutor – In‑Person & In‑Home

About the role

Prep Academy Tutors is seeking enthusiastic high school English tutors to provide in‑person, in‑home instruction for students in the Oakville and Burlington areas. You will help learners build confidence, improve writing skills, and succeed academically.

Key responsibilities

• Empower students with personalized support aligned to the Ontario secondary English curriculum.
• Strengthen reading comprehension, literary analysis, essay writing, grammar, vocabulary, and critical‑thinking skills.
• Prepare students for classroom assessments, culminating assignments, exams, and OSSLT where appropriate.
• Develop customized lesson plans that promote deep understanding and academic growth.
• Provide remedial support for struggling learners and enrichment for advanced students.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about progress, goals, and areas for improvement.

Required profile

• Current, valid registration with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) or certification in Canada/US (or in process).
• Enrollment in a Bachelor of Education program or experience as a lecturer/course instructor at an accredited college/university.
• Experience tutoring or teaching high school English (Grades 9‑12).
• Strong knowledge of the Ontario English curriculum.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable transportation to travel to students’ homes in Oakville and Burlington.
• Passion for helping students build confidence and lifelong literacy skills.
