Health Care Assistant – Nursing Home

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Health Care Assistant to join our team at a nursing home in Burnaby. You will support residents with daily living activities, ensure their comfort and safety, and contribute to a caring environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding residents.
• Take vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
• Supply and empty bed pans, weigh, lift, turn, and position patients.
• Make beds, maintain patient rooms, and manage inventory of supplies.
• Supervise exercise routines and transport patients in wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Collect specimens, administer first aid in emergencies, and respond to call signals.

Required profile

• College or CEGEP certificate/diploma (1‑2 years) or equivalent experience.
• 7 months to less than 1 year of relevant experience.
• Certificates: BCLS, First Aid, CPR, Health Care Aide.
• Security checks: bondable, criminal record, vulnerable sector, TB test, immunizations.
• Personal attributes: client focus, dependability, strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, patience, and teamwork.
