Head of Legal

About the role

Fiscal.ai is seeking a Head of Legal to lead all legal matters for its fast‑growing financial data platform. Reporting directly to the founders, you will be the primary legal advisor across commercial, compliance, risk and corporate functions, ensuring the business moves quickly while staying protected.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, including MSAs, order forms, data licensing and vendor contracts.
• Partner with sales on enterprise customer negotiations, handling redlines, security questionnaires and procurement processes.
• Manage relationships with external counsel for corporate, tax, employment, IP and specialized matters, controlling scope and spend.
• Coordinate with external accounting partners on corporate structure, revenue recognition and entity management.
• Identify legal risks, develop policies, and support SOC 2 and data‑privacy compliance across all jurisdictions.
• Assist with corporate transactions such as financings, equity administration, employment agreements and potential M&A activity.
• Provide practical legal advice to all teams, conduct training on contract basics, IP and compliance hygiene.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer called to the Bar in Ontario (or equivalent jurisdiction).
• Minimum 3 years of experience practicing law, preferably in a technology or financial services environment.
• Commercially minded operator able to move quickly and negotiate firmly.
• Experience managing external counsel and cross‑functional legal projects.

• Base salary $125,000‑$150,000 plus equity participation.
