Head of Development

About the role

Cineflix Media is seeking a bold, commercially‑minded Head of Development to originate, secure and convert high‑performing projects into commissioned series for Canada and the US. Reporting to the President of Productions, the role is based in Toronto on a hybrid schedule and will lead a creative development team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a commissioning‑focused development strategy and build a dynamic slate of scalable, returnable programming.
• Inspire the team to generate original ideas, write compelling decks, create standout sizzles and pitch with impact.
• Identify exceptional stories, talent, IP and access‑driven opportunities across the unscripted market.
• Shape projects from concept through pitching, sale and greenlight, and package them for global markets with the London team.
• Build strong creative partnerships with broadcasters, streamers, producers and talent.

Required profile

• Proven track record of multiple recent commissions with major Canadian and/or US buyers.
• Deep, current relationships with commissioners, buyers and creative talent.
• Exceptional creative vision, editorial judgement and storytelling instincts.
• Strong understanding of the Canadian and US unscripted market.
• Demonstrated success developing and pitching distinctive, returnable programming.
• Inspiring leadership style with experience building high‑performing creative teams.
• Production experience in the field or edit is an asset.
