Full-Time Produce Clerk

About the role

Join Food Basics as a Produce Clerk and be the go‑to person for keeping our fresh‑food section vibrant, well‑stocked, and inviting. You’ll work directly with customers, helping them find the best fruits and vegetables while maintaining high quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Unload and sort produce shipments, then stock shelves and displays using FIFO rotation.
• Create attractive, organized displays and ensure all items are correctly labeled.
• Inspect produce for freshness, remove damaged items, and monitor temperature and humidity.
• Assist customers with product selection, storage tips, and answer inquiries.
• Maintain cleanliness of the produce area, sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing equipment.
• Track inventory levels, perform regular counts, and report discrepancies.
• Update signage for promotions, sales, and seasonal items.
• Follow food‑safety and sanitation guidelines, using equipment safely.
• Support special tasks such as cart collection, promotions, and cross‑department collaboration.

Required profile

• Customer‑service oriented with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to lift 30‑50 lb and stand for extended periods.
• Good product knowledge and ability to create visual displays.
• Retail experience considered an asset.
• Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
