Full-time Cook – Restaurant

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Cook to join our team at Qualicum Beach Cafe, a bustling restaurant serving Canadian and international dishes. The role involves preparing high-quality meals, managing portion sizes, and maintaining a clean, efficient kitchen environment.

Key responsibilities

• Determine appropriate portion sizes for each dish and calculate associated food costs to ensure profitability and consistency.
• Prepare and cook complete meals as well as individual dishes, adhering to our Canadian and international cuisine standards.
• Inspect kitchen and food service areas regularly to ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance with health regulations.
• Maintain accurate inventory records of food, supplies, and equipment, and manage stock levels effectively.
• Clean kitchen workstations, equipment, and surrounding areas to uphold a hygienic environment.

Required profile

• Hold a secondary (high school) graduation certificate, meeting the basic educational requirement for the position.
• Possess between 7 months and less than one year of practical experience in a restaurant kitchen setting.
• Demonstrate the physical stamina to stand for extended periods, handle demanding tasks, and work efficiently under pressure while paying close attention to detail.
