Food Service Worker – Starbucks Barista – Casual/On‑Call

About the role

Join Vancouver Coastal Health as a Food Service Worker at Richmond Hospital, providing Starbucks‑style coffee service and food preparation on a casual, on‑call basis. You will support a client‑ and family‑centered care environment while ensuring safe, high‑quality meals for patients, residents, and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Portion and serve meals, assemble sandwiches, salads, and desserts.
• Prepare coffee, tea, and toast; operate a cash register and handle payments.
• Assist with food production tasks such as washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruit.
• Maintain food safety standards, check dietary accuracy, and follow Food Safe protocols.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, food wagons, trays, and dining areas; sweep and mop floors.
• Deliver trays to patient/resident units and restock food, beverage, and paper supplies.
• Perform related clerical duties and respond to customer inquiries.

Required profile

• Grade 10 education plus at least one year of recent, relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and training.
• Food Safe Certificate Level 1.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Physical capability to perform the duties and operate related equipment.

Required skills

• Food Safe Certificate Level 1
• Barista experience (Starbucks preferred)
