Fitness Instructor – 55+ Programs

About the role

The City of Hamilton is seeking a certified Fitness Instructor to lead 55+ fitness, yoga, Pilates, and aqua‑spinning programs across its recreation centres. You will deliver safe, progressive, and engaging classes that support the community’s health and wellness goals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and instruct group and individual fitness sessions in accordance with certification standards and curriculum guidelines.
• Prepare lesson plans, course outlines, and maintain accurate attendance and administrative records.
• Monitor equipment, facilities, and participant safety, providing first‑aid or emergency assistance as needed.
• Respond to participant inquiries, accommodate special needs, and report incidents or accidents.

Required profile

• Current fitness certification (e.g., Personal Training (PTS), Group Fitness Instructor (FIS), CALA) and any additional specialized certifications relevant to the discipline.
• Minimum two (2) years of instructional or program‑delivery experience in a related fitness field.
• Current Intermediate First Aid with CPR‑C & AED certification.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, across multiple locations.
