Fire Alarm Technician – Edmonton

About the role

The Total Group of Companies is looking for a Fire Alarm Technician to join its fire and life‑safety team in Edmonton. The role focuses on inspecting, troubleshooting, servicing and repairing both new and existing fire alarm systems.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, service and troubleshoot existing fire alarm systems.
• Perform upgrades, repairs, additions and system improvements after inspections.
• Respond to service calls, including after‑hours and weekend assignments.
• Prepare detailed inspection, verification and deficiency reports.
• Maintain company equipment and vehicles and ensure safety compliance through scheduled inspections.
• Support fire‑code compliance and communicate findings to clients, authorities and contractors.

Required profile

• Authorized to work in Canada with a valid SIN.
• Valid driver’s licence with at least three years of driving experience.
• Willingness to travel, work after hours, and participate in a rotating on‑call schedule.
• Detail‑oriented, safety‑driven and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Required skills

• CFAA certification or Journeyman Electrician status.
• Knowledge of CAN/ULC fire‑alarm standards.
• Experience programming fire alarm panels and reading design drawings.
• Strong technical knowledge of fire‑alarm system design, construction and repair.
