Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller is a key member of the executive leadership team, providing financial stewardship for Food Island Partnership. Reporting directly to the CEO, the role ensures fiscal discipline, supports strategic decision‑making, and guarantees compliance with funder requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day accounting, cash flow management, and finance operations for all projects.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and year‑end reports.
• Maintain and monitor project budgets and forecasts, including the Canada’s Food Island Gift Card and Fall Flavours initiatives.
• Prepare funding claims, board reports, and stakeholder updates.
• Manage external audit processes, compliance obligations, payroll, accounts payable and receivable.
• Conduct cash‑flow forecasting, financial planning, and provide business guidance to the CEO and Board.
• Safeguard company assets and attend Board and committee meetings as required.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting or Finance with a CPA designation or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in financial control, budgeting, and reporting.
• Proven ability to handle funding claims and compliance for nonprofit or partnership environments.
• Strong analytical mindset and senior‑level leadership capability.
