Financial Analyst – Conventional Operations Finance (Calgary)

About the role

Join the Conventional Operations Finance team in Calgary as a Financial Analyst. You will support business performance by delivering detailed financial reporting, analysis, and insights while collaborating closely with operational teams.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret financial operating results, including production, royalties, and operating expenses, and provide clear explanations.
• Prepare and deliver monthly performance management reports.
• Execute month‑end finance activities such as accruals, cost allocations, journal entries, P&L analysis, and reconciliations.
• Support SOX compliance processes and internal controls.
• Act as a liaison between operational and finance teams, offering financial guidance.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, long‑range planning, acquisitions, and new initiatives for the Conventional business unit.
• Investigate disputed or audit‑related charges with joint‑venture partners.
• Identify and drive process‑improvement and efficiency opportunities.
• Cross‑train with other analysts and respond to ad‑hoc analysis requests.

Required profile

• Legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Minimum 5+ years of accounting or financial reporting experience.
• Oil and gas accounting or reporting experience required.
• Professional accounting designation is an asset.
• Strong analytical mindset with continuous‑improvement focus.
• Ability to translate complex financial data into clear insights.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
