About the role
The Finance Manager supports the University’s financial position by delivering accounting services, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, and providing tax and audit support. Reporting to the Associate Director, Endowment and Restricted Accounting, the role contributes to modernising financial operations and enhancing reporting efficiency.
Key responsibilities
- Participate in quarterly and year‑end reporting, including schedule reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Prepare external financial reports and surveys required by governing bodies.
- Supervise the Financial Administrator responsible for endowments.
- Oversee month‑end and year‑end processes for endowment and restricted funds.
- Prepare and automate accounting schedules, reconciliations, and tax filings (commodity and lodging tax reports).
- Provide support to auditors and assist with audit requests.
- Research key tax issues and deliver guidance on policy and process improvements.
Required profile
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial regulations.
- Experience in financial reporting, endowment fund administration, and audit support.
- Proficiency in tax preparation and understanding of university‑related tax matters.
- Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, departments, and external stakeholders.
