Field Operations Assistant

About the role

The Field Operations Assistant supports daily activities at the Macdonald Campus Farm/Horticulture Centre. This part‑time, fixed‑term role involves hands‑on farm work, market sales, and basic data collection for research projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare land, pick rocks, seed, transplant, prune, and hoe garden beds.
• Operate tractors for basic tasks and assist with harvesting fruits and vegetables.
• Sell produce at the Mac Market counter and interact with customers.
• Collect and record data from research plots as directed.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the Chief Horticulture Technician.

Required profile

• High School Diploma (minimum).
• No prior experience required; horticulture experience is an asset.
• Valid driver’s licence is an asset.
• Authorized to work in Canada and willing to work in Quebec.
• English proficiency at level 2 (out of 4) for verbal and written communication.

What we offer

• Hourly wage of $18.00 CAD.
• 10 hours per week, from August 21 2026 to November 14 2026.
• Fixed‑term employment covered by the AMUSE collective agreement.
