Field Engineering Co-op (Water Treatment)

About the role

Veolia's Water Tech team in Nanticoke is looking for a Field Engineering Intern to join a technical service environment focused on industrial water treatment. The intern works alongside experienced professionals, supports water treatment systems and helps the organization meet its annual goals. This is a full-time co-op running from May 2027 through August 2028.

Key responsibilities

• Generate system drawings and PFDs for use in on-site manuals and proposals
• Conduct wet testing in the laboratory on water samples
• Monitor process equipment performance through online tools
• Assist with monthly reporting requirements
• Manage bulk chemical inventory and help order chemicals as needed
• Perform field checks on process equipment (flows, pH, conductivity, chemical residuals, etc.)
• Work with supervisors on plant equipment optimization opportunities

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical, Environmental, Industrial or Mechanical) or a Chemistry BSc program; other science-based technical programs considered
• Immediate eligibility to work in Canada; no work permit sponsorship offered
• Full-time availability for 14-16 months starting May 2027

Required skills

• Basic chemical tasks such as titrations, pH and conductivity measurements and use of simple chemistry lab instruments
• Basic mechanical skills to troubleshoot chemical feed equipment
• Microsoft Office, Visio and online data management
• Teamwork, communication and prioritization in a fast-paced environment
