Field Engineer – Geotechnical Site Investigation

About the role

We are looking for a Field Engineer/Geologist to join ConeTec’s Ottawa team. The role involves operating geotechnical and geophysical site‑investigation equipment safely and efficiently, supporting a variety of projects across North America.

Key responsibilities

• Operate CPTu, VST, sampling systems and other in‑situ testing and geophysical instruments.
• Become certified to operate drilling rigs and other heavy field equipment.
• Plan and execute mobilization and demobilization logistics for equipment in remote locations.
• Perform routine maintenance to keep equipment in optimal condition.
• Collect, log and submit field data, samples, notes and photos to engineers or clients.
• Prepare daily and final field reports ensuring data accuracy.
• Adhere to ConeTec’s health‑and‑safety standards at all times.

Required profile

• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication abilities.
• Problem‑solving mindset and ability to adapt to changing project demands.
• Willingness to obtain certifications for equipment operation.

Required skills

• Operation of CPTu and VST equipment.
• Use of sampling systems and geophysical instruments.
• Drilling equipment operation and maintenance.
• Data collection, field logging and report preparation.
