Facilities and Finance Coordinator

About the role

The Department of Mathematics at the University of British Columbia seeks a Facilities and Finance Coordinator to manage daily financial operations and oversee campus facilities needs. This dual‑role supports research, endowment, industry, and operating accounts while ensuring compliance with university and external policies.

Key responsibilities

• Review departmental financial transactions in Workday for accuracy.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes.
• Develop and produce specialized financial reports, variance analyses, and balance sheets.
• Liaise with Financial Services, Supply Management, Office of Research Services, and the University Internal Liaison Office (UILO).
• Provide training on financial processes and systems to faculty, staff, and students.
• Interpret and disseminate policy updates from UBC, Faculty of Science, CRA, and granting agencies.
• Project‑manage facilities work, coordinating with Building Operations and Facility Managers to address maintenance and improvement needs.

Required profile

• Experience in higher‑education financial administration or a comparable environment.
• Strong understanding of research grant accounting, reporting requirements, and compliance standards.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with multiple university units.
• Excellent communication skills for advising faculty, staff, and students.
