External Audit Senior Associate

About the role

PwC Canada is hiring an External Audit Senior Associate in its Assurance line of service. The role sits within client-facing audit teams that provide independent assessments of financial statements, internal controls and other assurable information, and issues an auditor's report. The position is newly created and focuses on audit planning, testing and coaching.

Key responsibilities

• Take on a professional role in client-facing audit teams
• Support the development of the audit approach and complete planning procedures
• Provide coaching and feedback to junior members of the engagement team
• Examine financial and accounting records, documents and tangible items such as inventory, plant and equipment, and observe processes
• Ask formal written and informal oral questions with individuals at client organizations
• Test the client's internal controls and assess significant estimates, judgments or assumptions made by management
• Verify and test financial statements and supporting disclosures, and perform completion procedures to support the audit report

Required profile

• Demonstrated progressive experience at Senior Associate level with external audit clients in a professional services firm
• Qualified Canadian CPA or equivalent reciprocal/recognized designation
• Excellent understanding of Canadian auditing standards; knowledge of US auditing standards and/or PCAOB is considered
• Knowledge of IFRS and/or ASPE; US GAAP is considered an asset
• Experience designing engagement procedures based on risk and materiality, and coaching and leading engagement teams
• Project management experience

The salary range is $48,800 - $81,300, with possible variable incentive pay for eligible employees. The role does not accept work visa sponsorship.
