Experienced Project Planner

About the role

EMS-Tech Inc., an engineering firm specializing in the design and supply of bulk material handling equipment, is looking for an experienced Project Planner. You will work alongside Project Managers, Project Engineers and cross-functional teams to build and maintain project schedules, coordinate resources and budgets, and support forecasting and capacity planning.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and manage project schedules for small, large and R&D projects, advising Project Managers on work-in-progress, milestones and schedule risks
• Control the flow of approved spend and planned hours, and resolve scheduling conflicts
• Develop integrated schedules using software for engineering, procurement, pre-commissioning and commissioning
• Maintain a real-time view of the company-wide resource pool and support capacity planning and forecasting
• Work with Sales, Engineering and Projects teams on resource allocation and project budgets, and report monthly to Senior Management and quarterly to the Board
• Improve planning systems, scheduling tools and forecasting processes

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Technology, Business Administration or equivalent; Engineering degree and PMP favoured
• 5-10 years' experience in a project controls group and scheduling, preferably in construction
• Knowledge of earned value, critical path analysis and risk analysis
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently under tight deadlines

Required skills

• Advanced level of Primavera 6 and MS Project
• MS Office suite (Excel)
• Other resourcing or scheduling tools
