Experienced Pad Builder – Construction & Helicopter Safety

About the role

Geotech Drilling, part of the ConeTec Group, is looking for experienced Pad Builders to lead and execute the construction of drilling pads across western Canada. The role involves working on sites that host active helicopter operations, ensuring safety and quality while supporting geotechnical and exploration projects.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and lead crews in safe, efficient pad construction and maintenance.
• Coordinate with drillers and project managers to align schedules and priorities.
• Perform basic carpentry tasks to guarantee pad stability and durability.
• Load, unload, operate, refuel and clean trucks, support vehicles, generators and pumps.
• Prepare work sites, maintain cleanliness, and manage material handling.
• Supply drillers and assistants with tooling, materials and drill mud as required.
• Handle drill rods, casing, core tubes and samples.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, especially those related to helicopter flight operations.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in pad construction, carpentry, or a combination of both.
• Proven ability to work safely around active helicopter operations.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lb repeatedly and work independently with limited supervision.
• Excellent communication, organization and problem‑solving skills.
• Valid Class 5 or Class 3 driver’s licence; Standard First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
