Executive Director – Association Leadership

About the role
The Ontario Association of School Business Officials (OASBO) seeks an Executive Director to provide visionary and operational leadership for a well‑established provincial association supporting school board administrators.
Key responsibilities
- Lead strategy execution by implementing the strategic plan, establishing priorities, measurable outcomes, and sustainable initiatives, and preparing annual business and operational plans.
- Enable effective governance through high‑quality reporting, planning, advisory support, and ongoing communication with the Board of Directors.
- Oversee operations, including management of programs, services, administrative functions, staff hiring, supervision, performance management, and compliance with policies and regulations.
- Strengthen financial stewardship by developing and managing budgets, ensuring fiscal discipline and alignment with strategic priorities.
- Advance membership value by driving engagement, participation, growth, and supporting committees and member initiatives.
- Champion partnerships by representing OASBO and building relationships with partner organizations such as CODE, CANASBO, ASBO, and school board leaders.
- Advocacy and government relations: develop and maintain relations with Ministry representatives and advocate for the K‑12 sector.
- Elevate communications by ensuring consistent, strategic messaging across multiple platforms, overseeing the website, social media, and internal communications, and providing sector trend updates to the Board.
Required profile
- Proven senior leadership experience in a nonprofit or professional association environment.
- Strong understanding of governance processes and ability to support a Board of Directors.
- Demonstrated expertise in operational management, staff supervision, and compliance.
- Financial acumen with experience in budgeting and fiscal oversight.
- Track record of building member engagement and growing membership bases.
- Excellent relationship‑building skills with external partners, government officials, and industry stakeholders.
- Effective communication abilities across print, digital, and in‑person channels.
- Commitment to fostering a high‑performance organizational culture.
