About the role
The Events Specialist leads the planning, coordination, and execution of a diverse portfolio of events for Métis Nation–Saskatchewan. This two‑year term position manages everything from high‑profile gatherings to regional program events, ensuring they align with organizational standards and cultural protocols.
Key responsibilities
- Develop event schedules, workplans, and timelines; secure venues, catering, and AV/technical services.
- Lead vendor negotiations, manage contracts, and control budgets from planning through close‑out.
- Assess event scope, identify risks, and adjust resources to meet timelines and staffing capacity.
- Oversee on‑site setup, registration, and real‑time issue resolution while directing staff, volunteers, and vendors.
- Manage attendee registration, communications, data capture, and post‑event reporting using event management software.
Required profile
- Strong knowledge of end‑to‑end event planning, including complex, high‑profile events.
- Understanding of Métis culture, values, and community protocols, or ability to work respectfully within an Indigenous governance context.
- Proven ability to assess project feasibility, manage scope changes, and balance operational trade‑offs.
