Entry-Level Accountant (Contract)

About the role

We are seeking an entry‑level Accountant to join an environmental organization in Vancouver on a contract basis. The role is ideal for a detail‑oriented individual who enjoys a fast‑moving office environment, interacts confidently with vendors and field teams, and wants hands‑on experience across core accounting functions.

Key responsibilities

• Process a high volume of accounts payable transactions, ensuring accurate coding across projects, prepaid accounts, and cost allocations.
• Communicate with vendors and field staff to resolve invoice questions and maintain smooth payment activity.
• Perform bank reconciliations and review account activity to identify discrepancies and support month‑end records.
• Record and reconcile intercompany entries for multiple related entities, maintaining organized documentation.
• Provide limited accounts receivable support, including billing administration and tracking modest invoice volume.
• Assist with accounting operations across several companies, focusing on project‑specific coding for active jobs.
• Use Acumatica and Excel to prepare reports, review financial data, and support analysis.
• Contribute to process improvements and support future ERP‑related changes.

Required profile

• Previous entry‑level accounting experience with exposure to accounts payable and general accounting tasks.
• Practical knowledge of account coding, bank reconciliations, and core accounting procedures.
• Familiarity with accounting software or ERP platforms; Acumatica experience is a strong asset.
• Intermediate Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.
• Strong attention to detail and high accuracy when handling financial information.
• Confident communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Motivated, personable approach with a willingness to learn and grow.
