Engineering I – Mechanical Systems & Equipment

About the role

Join Westinghouse’s innovative team in Kitchener as an Engineering I focused on mechanical systems and equipment for nuclear reactor applications. You will work under senior engineers, gaining hands‑on experience in design, analysis, and implementation of thermal‑hydraulic and piping solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Support the design, development, implementation, and analysis of mechanical systems, components, and equipment with oversight.
• Perform thermal, thermal‑hydraulic, and piping network design and analysis.
• Develop equipment sizing calculations for blowers, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, HVAC systems, and related components.
• Assist senior engineers in design and analysis activities while building technical independence.
• Identify technical issues within assigned tasks and propose practical engineering solutions within scope, schedule, and budget.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering or a related field (Chemical or Mechatronics).
• 0–2 years of professional engineering experience.
• Knowledge of engineering principles, first‑principles analysis, uncertainty treatment, and engineering tools.
• 1+ years of experience with Mathcad, MATLAB, and/or VBA.
• Familiarity with mechanical system and component design and analysis, including fluid systems and instrumentation interfaces.
• Willingness to work toward P.Eng. licensure.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally on occasion.
