Emergency Physician – Island Health, Nanaimo

About the role

Island Health’s Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking certified emergency physicians to join a progressive, collegial team of more than 20 physicians in the ocean‑front community of Nanaimo, BC. The position offers a dynamic clinical environment within the busiest emergency department on Vancouver Island, serving roughly 70,000 patients annually.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality emergency and trauma care in a state‑of‑the‑art department.
• Lead and collaborate with the emergency and trauma teams.
• Coordinate patient care with major specialty services as needed.
• Participate in clinical, administrative, educational, and research activities as desired.

Required profile

• Board‑certified emergency physician eligible to practice in British Columbia.
• Previous experience in a high‑volume emergency department is preferred.
• Strong interest in clinical excellence, teamwork, and community involvement.
