Emergency Medicine Physician (Part‑time/Full‑time)

About the role

This Hospital is seeking board‑certified Emergency Medicine Physicians for part‑time or full‑time positions. The role includes covering a limited number of shifts at our regional Emergency Department in Nanaimo and may involve academic activities with UBC programs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality emergency care in a 24‑hour ER setting.
• Manage acute medical, surgical, and trauma cases in a 52‑bed acute care hospital with a 3‑bed ICU.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary specialists including anesthesiology, surgery, psychiatry, and radiology.
• Participate in teaching and mentorship for UBC postgraduate and undergraduate medical students.
• Maintain documentation and comply with CPSBC (USA) registration requirements.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or eligible Emergency Medicine physician.
• CPSBC USA certified registration acceptable.
• Willingness to work part‑time or full‑time and start as soon as possible.
• Readiness to relocate to Port Alberni, BC.

Required skills

• Emergency medicine clinical expertise.
• Acute and critical care management.
• Proficiency with CT scanner and PACS imaging system.

What we offer

• Fee‑for‑service compensation model.
• Retention premium of 7.98% and a flat retention fee of $9,186.
• Relocation funding up to $15,000 and recruitment incentive up to $10,000.
• CME allowance: $2,200 per year (years 3‑4) and $4,400 after four years.
• Academic affiliation with the University of British Columbia.
