Emergency Medicine Physician – Full-time

About the role

Kelowna General Hospital is seeking board‑certified Emergency Medicine physicians for permanent full‑time positions (and locum opportunities) in a vibrant, four‑season community. The role involves delivering high‑quality emergency care in a busy tertiary referral centre that handles over 84,000 ED visits annually.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive emergency care for a wide range of presentations, including trauma, cardiac emergencies, and complex medical cases.
• Participate in the department’s teaching programme, including bedside teaching, simulation sessions, Grand Rounds, and journal clubs.
• Collaborate with a collegial team of physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure safe, efficient patient flow.
• Contribute to mentorship of junior staff and residents within the FRCPC Emergency Medicine residency program.

Required profile

• FRCPC‑certified Emergency Medicine physician (or equivalent) with experience in a high‑volume ED.
• Strong interest in teaching, mentorship, and academic activities.
• Willingness to work ~14 eight‑hour shifts per month, with flexibility to pick up additional shifts.
• Commitment to joining a collaborative, community‑focused team.

Required skills

• Ultrasound proficiency in emergency settings.
