Emergency Medicine Locum Position

About the role

The Emergency Department at Ridge Meadows Hospital is looking for a qualified Emergency Medicine physician to join the team on a locum basis, with the possibility of becoming a permanent staff member if both parties agree. This role offers the chance to work in a busy community hospital that provides a full range of acute and specialty services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality emergency care to adult and pediatric patients in a 24/7 ED setting.
• Perform rapid assessment, stabilization, and disposition of acute medical emergencies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nursing, surgery, critical care, and psychiatry.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and ensure coverage for all shifts as required.
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to hospital policies and provincial regulations.

Required profile

• Board certification in Emergency Medicine or extensive experience working in an emergency department.
• Current ACLS, ATLS and PALS/APLS certifications.
• Eligibility for CPSBC registration (US‑certified class acceptable).
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Advanced Pediatric Life Support (APLS)
• Emergency Medicine certification or equivalent experience
• CPSBC registration (US class acceptable)
