Elementary Outdoor Education Teacher (K‑1)

About the role

East Kensington Elementary, part of the Surrey School District, is seeking a passionate Elementary Outdoor Education Teacher for Kindergarten‑1. The role immerses students in daily outdoor, inquiry‑based learning experiences while delivering the full elementary curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver instruction across all elementary curriculum areas in line with B.C. Ministry of Education standards.
• Design and lead up to four hours of outdoor, hands‑on, inquiry‑based learning each day.
• Foster students’ intellectual, social, emotional and physical development through exploration and play in natural settings.
• Promote environmental stewardship and advocacy by caring for natural surroundings.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers, community partners and district staff to develop and refine the outdoor program.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Education degree in Elementary.
• Valid B.C. Teacher’s Certificate.
• Minimum two years of satisfactory classroom teaching experience.
• Completion of three university courses in areas such as Experiential Learning or Outdoor Education.
