Elementary Outdoor Education Teacher (Grades 2‑3)

About the role

The Surrey School District is seeking a dedicated Elementary Outdoor Education Teacher for Grades 2‑3 at East Kensington Elementary. The teacher will lead students through immersive, inquiry‑based outdoor learning experiences that complement the core curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the full spectrum of elementary curriculum as defined by the B.C. Ministry of Education.
• Design and implement up to four hours of daily outdoor instruction using hands‑on, inquiry‑based methods.
• Integrate cross‑curricular content into outdoor activities to support academic, social, emotional, and physical development.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers, community partners, and district staff to plan and refine the outdoor program.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and environmentally responsible learning environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Education degree in Elementary Education.
• Valid B.C. Teacher’s Certificate.
• Minimum two years of satisfactory classroom teaching experience.
• Completion of three university courses in areas such as Experiential Learning, Outdoor Education, or related fields.
