About the role

The York Region District School Board is seeking an Elementary Long Term Occasional (LTO) teacher for Grade SK-1. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to student success in a supportive public‑education environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess curriculum for Kindergarten and Grade 1 students.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom atmosphere.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and support staff to enhance learning outcomes.
• Maintain accurate student records and communicate progress to parents and guardians.
• Participate in professional development and school initiatives as required.

Required profile

• Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) or in the process of becoming qualified before the start date.
• Provide at least three professional teaching references (or two for internal candidates, one of which must be a YRDSB administrator).
• Successful completion of a satisfactory police record check.
• Relevant teaching experience and appropriate qualifications for elementary education.

• Salary prorated according to the ETFO Elementary Teacher Collective Agreement, ranging from $57,269 to $120,384 CAD per year, based on step, QECO rating, and experience.
