Elementary Long Term Occasional (LTO) Grade 1 Teacher

About the role

The York Region District School Board is seeking a qualified elementary teacher for a Long Term Occasional (LTO) position, teaching Grade 1 on a full‑time basis. This role supports student success within a public education environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess the Grade 1 curriculum in accordance with Ontario standards.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and support staff to enhance learning outcomes.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress.
• Adhere to board policies, collective agreements, and professional standards.

Required profile

• Member in good standing of the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) or in the process of becoming qualified before the start date.
• Ability to provide a satisfactory police record check.
• Three professional teaching references (or two for internal candidates, one of which must be a YRDSB administrator).
• Commitment to the values and mission of the York Region District School Board.
