Elementary Grade 8 Long-Term Occasional Homeroom Teacher

About the role

The York Region District School Board is seeking an Elementary Grade 8 Long‑Term Occasional (LTO) Homeroom Teacher. This position provides classroom leadership for a full grade 8 cohort on a fixed‑term basis, supporting student achievement and well‑being.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess the Grade 8 curriculum in accordance with provincial standards.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
• Collaborate with grade team members, specialists, and administrators to support student learning.
• Complete required documentation, including grades, reports, and attendance records.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events.

Required profile

• Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) or in the process of obtaining certification prior to the start date.
• Three professional teaching references (or two for internal candidates, one of which must be a YRDSB administrator).
• Clear police record check.
• Demonstrated commitment to student success and collaborative practice.
