Elementary Grade 7/8 Homeroom Teacher (Long‑Term Occasional)

About the role

The York Region District School Board is seeking a dedicated Elementary Teacher to fill a Long‑Term Occasional (LTO) Grade 7/8 homeroom position. This full‑time (100%) role may extend until January 15, 2027, providing a stable classroom environment for our learners.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess the elementary curriculum for Grade 7/8 students.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom atmosphere.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and support staff to support student achievement.
• Participate in school events, parent‑teacher conferences, and professional development activities.
• Ensure compliance with the Ontario College of Teachers standards and the ETFO collective agreement.

Required profile

• Member in good standing of the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) or in the process of obtaining certification before the start date.
• Relevant teaching experience in an elementary setting; internal candidates must include prior YRDSB experience.
• Ability to provide three professional references (external) or two references including a YRDSB administrator (internal).
• Successful completion of a satisfactory police record check.

Required skills

• Certification or eligibility for certification with the Ontario College of Teachers.
