Elementary Grade 5 Long-Term Occasional Teacher (Full-time)

About the role

The York Region District School Board is seeking a qualified Elementary Grade 5 teacher for a Long‑Term Occasional (LTO) position, potentially extending to December 18, 2026. This full‑time role offers a rewarding environment where teachers directly impact student success.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess curriculum for Grade 5 students in accordance with provincial standards.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom atmosphere.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and support staff to support student learning.
• Participate in school events, parent‑teacher conferences, and professional development activities.

Required profile

• Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) or in the process of obtaining certification before the start date.
• Provide at least three professional teaching references (or two for internal candidates, one of which must be a YRDSB administrator).
• Successful completion of a satisfactory police record check.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Ontario elementary curriculum and assessment practices.
• Classroom management and instructional planning abilities.
