Electrical PLC / Control Specialist

About the role

Johnson Electric is hiring an Electrical PLC / Control Specialist for its Maintenance team in Stratford, Ontario, an existing position with a salary range of $62K-$80K. The role sits in the PLC and Robots Team, reporting to the Team Leader, and covers designing control systems for new machines, troubleshooting and modifying existing ones, and managing systems projects safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement control systems, and troubleshoot electrical systems (575 V, wiring, fuses).
• Program PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Omron), HMIs, servo systems and robots (Fanuc, ABB Kuka).
• Integrate electrical systems, design control panels, wiring diagrams and BOMs.
• Instruct maintenance personnel and mentor licensed electricians on automation systems.
• Help improve automation cells and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Follow Johnson Electric's safety, environmental and quality policies.

Required profile

• University degree in Electrical Engineering or college diploma.
• At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in controls and robots in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and act as team lead on specific projects.
• Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement experience or certification is an asset.

Required skills

• Studio 5000, RSLogix, TIA Portal, STEP 7, STARTER
• Programming robots and strong computer skills (AutoCAD, MS Office)
• Programming Cognex, Keyence, IR Vision cameras is an asset
