Electrical Engineer

About the role

Primero, a company founded in Australia and expanding its North American presence, is hiring an Electrical Engineer for its Toronto office. The role supports the Electricity and Instrumentation (E&I) service across feasibility, design, construction and commissioning phases, under the supervision of the Chief E&I Engineer. It is a permanent, full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Develop single-line, schematic and termination diagrams, electrical load lists, equipment lists, cable schedules and material take-offs.
• Carry out studies such as load flow, protection coordination, short circuit, motor starting, cable sizing and grounding.
• Write specifications and datasheets for electrical equipment, instruments and control systems.
• Liaise with vendors, clients, draftspersons and interdisciplinary engineers throughout design.
• Support the site during construction and commissioning, and direct draftspersons so drawings meet engineering requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5-10 years of relevant experience in electrical design.
• Registered (or candidate) for the P.Eng license with the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada.
• Experience in mining or oil and gas with on-site work during construction and commissioning is an asset.

Required skills

• ETAP and AutoCAD
• Low and medium voltage systems, PLC instrumentation and control systems (advantage)
• Strong understanding of CEC and IEC codes
• Ability to read design drawings and schematics, and to develop equipment specifications and calculations
• Windows XP and Microsoft Office, including Outlook

What we offer

• Salary of $90,000 - $120,000
