Elections Assistant (Temporary, Entry Level)

About the role
The City of Woodstock is seeking an Elections Assistant to support the planning, administration, and delivery of the 2026 Municipal and School Board elections. This entry‑level, temporary position offers hands‑on experience in a highly regulated public‑sector environment.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in preparing election materials, including ballots, voter lists, and signage.
- Support the setup and operation of polling stations on election days, including evening and weekend shifts.
- Maintain accurate records of voter turnout, results, and any irregularities.
- Provide customer service to voters, answering questions and resolving issues.
- Collaborate with the Manager, Legislative Services/Deputy Clerk and other municipal departments to ensure compliance with election legislation.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent; post‑secondary education in public administration or a related field is an asset.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication abilities and a professional demeanor.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required around voting days.
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
