About the role

Reporting to the Director of Research and Analysis, the Economics and Policy Analyst conducts technical research, complex costing for physician contracts, and provides economic assessments to support policy development for BC’s health care system. The role involves partnering with senior staff from the Ministry of Health, health authorities and other system partners to deliver evidence‑based recommendations.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop partnerships with health authorities, the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders on projects related to medical service delivery and compensation.
  • Co‑create briefing notes and presentations for provincial medical councils and committees to support policy and decision‑making.
  • Design and execute rigorous methodologies for literature reviews, environmental scans, quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Manage large data sets, design databases, clean and structure data for analysis.
  • Analyse statistical and economic data, wage surveys and policy options, and produce evidence‑based advice for decision‑makers.
  • Prepare presentations, data visualisations and reports to communicate research findings.

Required profile

  • Master’s degree in economics, statistics, mathematics, business or health/social sciences.
  • At least three years of research or policy experience, preferably in health care.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication, interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with analytical tools such as SAS, R, STATA, Tableau or SQL.
