Earthwork Laborer

About the role

Join the Civil and Infrastructure team at Pomerleau Construction as an Earthwork Laborer. You will work on large‑scale building and infrastructure projects, collaborating closely with specialized crews to ensure safe and efficient site operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist specialized crews with site preparation, concrete pours, and material handling.
• Load, unload, and transport materials using hand trucks, wheelbarrows, and other equipment.
• Support sewer and water main installation teams.
• Operate motorized equipment such as forklifts and aerial work platforms when trained and certified.
• Maintain small tools and site equipment, ensuring they are clean and functional.
• Follow safety procedures and company standards at all times.

Required profile

• Valid CCQ occupancy card.
• 2015 ASP Construction & WHMIS certification.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar earthwork or construction labor role.
• Ability to work safely in a team environment on construction sites.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand tools: shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, screwdrivers, drills.
• Experience using power tools: jackhammers, compactors.
• Operation of material‑handling equipment: hand trucks, forklifts, aerial work platforms.
