Early Childhood Educator – Auxiliary (Hourly)

About the role

The UBC Okanagan Child Care Centre is seeking enthusiastic Early Childhood Educators to join its auxiliary team on an hourly basis. You will help create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children in a licensed group‑care setting.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and implement age‑appropriate activities that support children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming classroom environment.
• Observe and document children’s progress and communicate observations to lead educators and families.
• Collaborate with the child‑care team to adapt programming to diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Provide individualized support to children with varying needs and abilities.

Required profile

• Current BC Early Childhood Educator (ECE) certification.
• Current Emergency Child Care First Aid certification.
• Clear Criminal Record Check.
• Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to pick up shifts based on operational needs.

Required skills

• Knowledge of early childhood pedagogies and safety standards.
• Ability to create engaging, nature‑based and sensory‑rich learning experiences.
