Dock Foreman (Afternoon Shift Supervisor)

About the role

Manitoulin Transport is looking for an experienced dock worker to take on the afternoon shift supervisor position. This is a medical relief position with the potential to become permanent. The role supervises the outbound freight flow so that departure times are met and service standards are upheld.

Key responsibilities

• Assign and supervise the outbound freight flow, keeping departure times and service standards
• Assist with labeling, unloading freight and loading when necessary
• Ensure staff use proper freight handling techniques and work safely
• Enter the daily outbound lineup
• Prepare shipping documents for drivers (manifests, DG ppwk)
• Manage shipping lanes and plan overflows
• Work with Central Maintenance to get equipment tags addressed and repairs scheduled

Required profile

• Experienced dock worker preferred
• Ability to multitask and prioritize jobs
• Good communication skills and a positive "can do" attitude
• Solid understanding of TDG placarding requirements
• DG spill response experience
• Willingness to complete first aid / CPR training
