Dishwasher - Lulu Bar

About the role

Lulu Bar, part of Oliver & Bonacini, is looking for a Kitchen Porter/Dishwasher to report to the Chef and Sous Chef. The role keeps the kitchen clean, organized and running smoothly so the culinary team can focus on the food. It is described as a great way to start a career in hospitality and learn how a professional kitchen works. The position is currently listed as part-time, with a high chance of hours increasing and a possible move to full time later.

Key responsibilities

• Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, cutlery, pots, pans and kitchen equipment by hand and with the dishwashing machine
• Keep the kitchen and service stations stocked with clean plates, utensils and equipment throughout service
• Operate and maintain the dishwashing machine, monitoring water temperature and chemical levels
• Keep the dish area, kitchen floors, walk-ins and storage areas clean and organized
• Empty garbage, recycling and compost bins and keep waste areas clean
• Help receive deliveries and store items properly, following the FIFO (first in, first out) method
• Assist the kitchen team with basic food prep as needed
• Follow all sanitation, food safety and hygiene guidelines, and WHMIS guidelines and SDS when handling cleaning chemicals
• Complete opening and closing cleaning checklists and carry out tasks delegated by the Sous Chef, Chef and/or General Manager

Required profile

• Previous experience as a dishwasher or kitchen porter is an asset but not required; training is provided
• Strong work ethic and a positive, team-first attitude
• Ability to stay organized and work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
• Reliable, punctual and eager to learn
• Availability for evenings, weekends and holidays
• Legally eligible to work in Canada
