Director of Operations – Clinical Research & Centre for Innovative Medicine

About the role

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) seeks a senior leader to direct operations of its Centre for Innovative Medicine (CIM). Reporting jointly to the Director of Clinical Research and the Chief Operating Officer, you will shape the strategic direction of clinical research services that support over 250 investigators and industry partners.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic planning and operational leadership for the CIM, aligning activities with the Institute’s vision.
• Build, lead, and develop high‑performing teams to deliver excellence in clinical research.
• Ensure financial stewardship, oversee budgets, and drive long‑term sustainability of CIM operations.
• Lead the integration, optimization, and expansion of clinical research platforms and services.
• Foster internal and external partnerships to advance the Institute’s research agenda.
• Oversee day‑to‑day CIM operations, including budget negotiations, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder communications.
• Implement the CIM strategic plan and support organization‑wide change initiatives.
• Manage multicenter trial projects, technical platforms, and research operations across the MUHC network.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior operational leadership within clinical research or a related biomedical environment.
• Strong track record in strategic planning, financial management, and team development.
• Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks governing clinical studies.
• Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with academic, industry, and healthcare partners.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
