About the role
This senior leadership position oversees all manufacturing operations for a premium office‑furniture producer. The Director will drive production, quality, safety, financial, and delivery performance while aligning the plant with strategic growth initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Lead manufacturing to meet production, quality, safety, financial, and on‑time delivery targets.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, workflow optimization, equipment utilization, and plant layout improvements.
- Manage salaried and unionized teams, handling recruitment, training, performance management, coaching, and succession planning.
- Partner with the VP on expansion projects, automation, CNC technology, material‑handling systems, and facility upgrades.
- Develop and control manufacturing budgets; monitor KPIs such as labor efficiency, scrap reduction, quality performance, and on‑time production.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and ISO 9001 standards while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Support sustainability through waste reduction and energy‑efficient practices.
- Prepare operational reports and recommendations for executive leadership.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in industrial operations, preferably in high‑mix, custom manufacturing.
- Proven ability to lead both salaried and unionized workforces.
- Strong analytical skills in capacity planning, cost optimization, process improvement, and KPI management.
