About the role
The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is seeking an experienced, values‑driven Director of Housing & Community Support Services to provide strategic and operational leadership for a diverse portfolio of housing, supportive housing, property management, and community support services.
Key responsibilities
- Lead strategic planning and operational oversight for housing and community services programs.
- Provide direction for housing operations, tenancy management, occupancy, maintenance planning, and property performance.
- Support long‑term asset management and capital planning initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with funding agreements, legislation, policies, and best practices.
- Monitor program outcomes, service utilization, financial performance, and operational effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain relationships with BC Housing, Island Health, municipalities, government ministries, funders, and community partners.
- Identify opportunities for program enhancement, partnerships, funding, and service expansion.
- Develop and oversee departmental operating and capital budgets.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and supportive workplace culture.
Required profile
- Degree or diploma in Social Work, Human Services, Community Social Services, Non‑Profit Management, or related field.
- Minimum five years of progressive leadership experience in social services, supportive housing, homelessness services, or community programs.
- Experience managing multiple programs, service areas, or operational portfolios.
- Experience supervising managers and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of supportive housing, housing stability programs, community‑based services, and government‑funded social service programs.
Required skills
- Working knowledge of affordable housing operations, property management principles, tenancy practices, maintenance planning, and asset management.
- Experience with grant writing and supporting philanthropic and fundraising initiatives (considered an asset).
- Experience managing budgets, contracts, funding agreements, and community partnerships.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, relationship‑building, and problem‑solving abilities.
