Director - Corporate Accounting and Controls

About the role

Global Excel Management is hiring a Director of Corporate Accounting and Financial Controls in Sherbrooke, Quebec. The role oversees and analyzes the consolidation of the group's financial statements and complex accounting matters, supports the finance sectors, leads ad hoc projects, supervises audit materials and ensures compliance with Canadian GAAP. It is a primarily on-site position.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of monthly and annual consolidated results (balance sheet, profit and loss, cash flows, allocations and intercompany transactions).
• Coordinate the financial statements of the group and its 20+ subsidiaries, working with external auditors on year-end audits.
• Support subsidiaries' accounting teams in preparing consolidated results and present them to the CFO and VP Corporate Finance.
• Prepare transfer pricing documentation and maintain the consolidation system, chart of accounts and work files.
• Create and update a centralized record of the group's accounting policies and give guidance on complex accounting matters under Canadian GAAP.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting and CPA designation.
• At least 10 years of relevant corporate accounting experience and 4 years in auditing.
• Bilingualism in English and French, with strong written and verbal skills in both.
• Experience working for an international company with major transactions.

Required skills

• Excellent understanding of Canadian GAAP, American GAAP and emerging standards.
• Good knowledge of accounting and financial controls.
• General understanding of corporate taxation and Canadian transfer pricing rules.
• Ability to present financial data clearly to senior decision-makers.
