Claims Assessor - Property & Casualty

About the role

Global Excel Management is hiring a Claims Assessor in Sherbrooke, QC to open and evaluate auto rental collision/loss damage, purchase security and extended warranty insurance claims. The role applies policy wording, client culture and intent to enforce claim benefits and limitations, and interacts directly with customers by phone and email to guide them through the claim process.

Key responsibilities

• Confirm claim eligibility using external lookup tools and review documentation for legitimacy and authenticity
• Investigate claim validity before settlement, contacting third parties such as car rental agencies and repair shops when applicable
• Review previous verbal and written communications in the file and apply policy wording, benefits, maximums and exclusions
• Contact customers to request missing information and explain the claim process, required documents and status
• Track claim progress in the claims system, make decisions on outcomes and issue payments or denials
• Take ownership of complaints or complex files until resolved
• Monitor the team mailbox and complete administrative tasks delegated by the Team Leader

Required profile

• College diploma or equivalent, with at least one year of customer service experience
• Bilingual in English and French, which is required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages
• Analytical, decision-making and organizational skills; autonomous, professional and detail-oriented
• Meeting or exceeding performance in the current role
• Knowledge of claims assessment is an asset

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
• Claims assessment knowledge is an asset
