Design Interface Manager

About the role

The Design Interface Manager oversees utility design coordination and the transition from traffic and utilities design to implementation. This senior role ensures seamless collaboration between design teams, contractors, utility providers, and government agencies on complex infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead utility design coordination across multiple disciplines, ensuring compliance with local standards and regulations.
• Manage the transition from design to implementation, bridging technical design with construction execution.
• Coordinate with Design Managers, promote constructability review meetings, and manage field design changes for traffic and utilities.
• Act as primary interface between design teams, permit team, contractors, utility providers, and government agencies to resolve technical challenges.
• Capture and integrate stakeholder requirements throughout design and implementation phases.
• Oversee permit applications in collaboration with PLAA lead.
• Provide technical oversight to guarantee constructability, safety, and efficiency.
• Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain timelines and budgets.
• Lead the Requirements Management Plan and the Outline Commissioning Program as Project Co‑Commissioning Authority.
• Collaborate with quality teams and joint ventures to implement and close out Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, infrastructure design or a related field.
• 8–10 years of design management experience, focusing on utilities and traffic coordination.
• Proven local experience working with municipal authorities, utility providers, and transportation agencies.
• Experience in commissioning and handover processes for large infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with local permitting processes and regulatory frameworks.
